Metro rail updates for Ramadan: Water policy and schedule changes

Source: Collected

As Ramadan approaches, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTC), which runs the metro rail, has provided important updates for passengers regarding the carrying of water and the metro rail schedule.

In a notice signed on February 27 by Md. Ahsan Ullah Sharifi, the Deputy Project Director (Public Relations) of MRT Line-6, the company announced that during Ramadan, passengers will be allowed to bring a 250-milliliter bottle of water onto the platforms and trains for iftar.

This rule will ensure that passengers can stay hydrated while observing the fast.

However, it is important that passengers remain cautious to prevent water from spilling.

Additionally, all empty water bottles should be disposed of in the dustbins located at the platform, concourse, or entry/exit gates.

Another significant update is regarding the metro rail‍‍`s operating schedule.

The schedules for Fridays, Saturdays, and other government holidays will remain unchanged throughout Ramadan.

According to the schedule, the first metro train will depart from the Uttara North Station at 7:10 AM.

Furthermore, the guidelines emphasize that no other food or beverages will be allowed inside the trains, platforms, or concourse areas.

Passengers are reminded to follow these instructions to help maintain cleanliness and ensure a smooth commuting experience during the holy month.

These changes are part of the efforts to accommodate the needs of commuters during Ramadan while ensuring that the metro service runs smoothly as always.
