Retired Joint Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad has been appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs on a contractual basis for one year.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Sunday, March 1.
According to the notification, Munshi Alauddin Al Azad has been appointed under Section 49 of the Government Service Act, 2018, on a one-year contractual basis. The appointment is subject to the condition that he relinquishes any other professional, business, or employment ties with government, semi-government, or private institutions or organizations during his tenure.
His contractual appointment will take effect for one year from the date he joins the post.
Other terms and conditions of the appointment will be determined in accordance with the contract agreement, the notification added.
Munshi Alauddin previously served as a member of the seven-member independent commission formed to re-investigate the BDR (Bangladesh Rifles) killings following the formation of the interim government on December 24, 2024.
On February 23, the BNP-led government removed Religious Affairs Secretary Md. Kamal Uddin and attached him to the Ministry of Public Administration.
