Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has announced that Bangladesh is taking initiatives to open new diplomatic missions in five countries to further engage expatriate Bangladeshis in the nation’s development process.
On Monday (June 16), Adviser Asif Mahmud shared the information through a post on his verified Facebook page.
According to his statement, "In light of the evolving geopolitical landscape, international economic realities, and Bangladesh’s upcoming graduation from LDC status, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has planned to establish new missions aimed at strengthening political ties, expanding trade, and enhancing the involvement of expatriate Bangladeshis in national development.”
The new missions are set to be opened in Dublin, Ireland; Oslo, Norway; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Frankfurt, Germany; and São Paulo, Brazil.
The initiative is part of Bangladesh’s broader strategy to deepen its diplomatic outreach, foster new trade partnerships, and better serve its growing diaspora communities across Europe and South America.
