Marking the last day of the current election commission (EC) on Monday, the outgoing chief of the electoral body said that they are "not embarrassed" by the commission's performance over the last five years.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), KM Nurul Huda, was speaking at a press conference at Election Commission office.
"We have tried our best," he said when asked if their activities and operations would embarrass them after retiring, reports The Daily Star.
"There will be no embarrassment. We didn't have shortcomings. As a result, there is no embarrassment," he said.
He acknowledged that there had been failures, such as electoral violence and killings, alongside success. "We regret the inconveniences," he said.
He further said, "Some political parties are unhappy and dissatisfied. We haven't been able to gain their trust."
