A final-year student of North South University died early this morning almost three hours after the motorcycle she was riding as a passenger was hit by a lorry at Lalbagh's Beribadh in Dhaka last night.
The deceased was identified as Sanjida Akter Tamanna, 27.
Police said that she had used a ride-sharing app for her trip on the bike.
According to MM Morshed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Lalbagh Police Station, Sanjida was taken to a nearby hospital from where she was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after the accident about 10:00pm yesterday (March, 31).
She was declared dead by the DMCH around 1:00am today, the OC said.
Police official said that they varrested the driver of the lorry and also seized the vehicle.
Sanjida, daughter of Abu Taher from Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali, had been living in Kamrangirchar area of the capital, the OC said.
The body has been kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy.
