Twenty-seven former members of the erstwhile Bangladesh Rifles (now Border Guard Bangladesh, or BGB) were released on bail this morning in connection with the explosives case linked to the 2009 Pilkhana carnage.

The individuals were freed around 10:00 AM from three separate facilities in Kashimpur---the Kashimpur High Security Central Jail, Kashimpur Central Jail-1, and Kashimpur Central Jail-2.

Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, Senior Jail Superintendent of the High Security facility, confirmed that 12 ex-BDR personnel had been released from there.

Separately, Al Mamun, who also oversees Kashimpur Central Jail-2, reported the release of another 10 former BDR members from that jail.

Additionally, Jailor Abu Noor Reza stated that five more were released from Kashimpur Central Jail-1.
