Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, known for her compassion and dedication to social welfare, extended a helping hand to 11-year-old Rabbi, a canteen worker at the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital. The young boy, who tragically lost his father, expressed his desire to pursue education during a conversation with the prime minister.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital on Saturday, for eye treatment, just like any other patient. Demonstrating her down-to-earth nature, she purchased a Tk10 ticket.
As she was leaving the hospital, she took the opportunity to engage in warm conversations with patients, their relatives, doctors, nurses, and hospital staff.
Among the crowd, the prime minister noticed Rabbi standing amidst the bustling atmosphere. Intrigued, she approached him and inquired about his occupation, his purpose for visiting the hospital, and his current grade level in school.
Rabbi, a resilient 11-year-old, revealed that he works and resides at the canteen of the National Eye Hospital. He also shared the heartbreaking news of his father`s passing. Prior to joining the canteen, he had completed his studies up to the second grade.
The child told Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina: "I want to go back to my mother in Chandpur. I want to resume my studies.”
Expressing her deep sympathy upon hearing Rabbi`s story, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was visibly moved. In a heartfelt gesture, she personally took charge of supporting his educational journey and committed to covering his educational expenses. She issued instructions to the relevant officials to ensure proper implementation of this arrangement.
The prime minister`s intervention not only promises Rabbi the opportunity to resume his studies but also underscores her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of all citizens, especially the underprivileged. Sheikh Hasina`s empathetic approach continues to inspire hope and foster a sense of social responsibility throughout the nation.
