Dismissed members of the former BDR, along with their affected family members, broke through police barricades and staged a protest at Shahbagh.

On Thursday (January 9), they marched from the Central Shaheed Minar and set up their protest at the Shahbagh intersection.

Earlier in the morning, during a press conference at the Central Shaheed Minar, the dismissed BDR members criticized the ongoing judicial proceedings of the Pilkhana massacre case, calling it a farce.

They demanded the cancellation of all false cases and the release of imprisoned members.

The protesters also claimed that even though court proceedings were supposed to take place in Keraniganj, they have not, which they consider a conspiracy.

The protesters, referring to the Pilkhana massacre as a planned event, alleged that the BDR members were victims of an anti-national conspiracy.

They vowed to continue their movement until their three-point demands, including the release of the imprisoned members, are fulfilled.

Meanwhile, at Bakshibazar in the capital, Chief Prosecutor Md. Borhan Uddin stated that conducting the trial of the BDR mutiny case in the special court set up at the Aliya Madrasa field is not feasible.

Earlier in the day, madrasa students blocked the road in protest, demanding the suspension of court proceedings.

On Thursday morning, the students from the madrasa blocked the road, claiming that the ongoing court activities disrupt their studies.

Despite previously filing multiple complaints with the ministry, no actions were taken, leading them to block the road in protest.

Additionally, on Wednesday night, a fire broke out at the special court set up in the Aliya Madrasa field.

Fire service official Rozina Akter reported that they received information about the fire at 3:10 AM and immediately went to the site.

However, they were unable to extinguish the fire due to interference from protesters at the scene.
