For the second day in a row, residents of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) continued their protest in front of Nagar Bhaban, demanding that BNP leader Ishraque Hossain be officially sworn in and given the responsibilities of mayor.
The demonstrators vowed to maintain their sit-in indefinitely until their demand is fulfilled.
On Thursday morning, protestors gathered outside the DSCC headquarters under the banner “City Hall Blockade Organized by the Citizens of Dhaka.”
Participants from various city wards joined the protest through organized processions.
Protesters claimed that despite the publication of both a court verdict and the Election Commission’s gazette, Ishraque Hossain has yet to be sworn in, which they argue constitutes a violation of judicial authority.
They further asserted that Ishraque, having been elected by the people, is being denied his rightful position—an act they see as a betrayal of both the Constitution and democratic principles.
