Dhaka city dwellers heaved a sigh of relief on Sunday (September 5) night with a downpour after several days of heatwave swept over different parts of the country including the capital.
The country has been experiencing heavy rain for weeks during the monsoon. But as the autumn started rain decreased leading to the heatwave.
The sky was covered by thick cloud from the evening. The shower accompanied by gusty wind and thunder began in the capital at about 12:25 am Sunday night.
Though the speed of the wind was less at the beginning, it gradually started increasing. The harsh sounds of the wind indicated the arrival of nor'wester. Then it started raining coupled with heavy wind. After several days of heatwave, the rain brought a sigh of relief to the lives of Dhaka city dwellers.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department is yet to measure the rainfall in the capital.
