Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq on Wednesday said no truck carrying sacrificial animals can be stopped and extorted.
Strict action will be taken in case of any such incident, the DMP Commissioner said.
The DMP Commissioner was addressing at a special coordination meeting on security of cattle market, money escort, counterfeit note detection, overall law and order maintenance and traffic management held at the conference room of the DMP headquarters on Wednesday.
Chaired by the DMP Commissioner, the special coordination meeting was attended, among others, by senior officers of DMP, intelligence agency, Bangladesh Police Headquarters, RAB, River Police, Highway Police, APBn, Fire Service, representatives of various public and private service organizations and institutions including two City Corporations of Dhaka and the lessees of cattle haats in the Dhaka metropolitan area.
Addressing the meeting, the DMP Commissioner said no cattle can be kept outside the market premises to avoid public nuisance. Besides, sacrificial animals cannot be kept on roads and also no sacrificial animals can be taken to the market before June 25, he said.
The DMP Commissioner asked the lease holders` of cattle markets not to force to unloaded animals from any animal truck. Cows cannot be dragged to market and the trader will be allowed to take their cattle to their desired cattle markets, he said.
The top officer of the DMP advised the cattle traders to hang a banner in front of the vehicles stating which market they will take the animals so that they can get police assistance in this regard.
He also said that escort service of the DMP will be available to transport the money of the traders collected from the sale of animals and the police will provide all security for the transportation of money.
Owners are advised by DMP to bring entire cattle markets and cattle traders` food hotels under CCTV cameras.
On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, road, rail and waterways transports and overall security, including monitoring and traffic management were also discussed along with monitoring the facilities and inconveniences of the passengers.
