In a recent press conference held on Sunday, Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, shared optimistic views about Bangladesh`s development.
He emphasized that if the country graduates to a middle-income nation, it would bring many positive changes.
Addressing comments from the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Shafiqul Alam disagreed with their position.
"We do not agree with the statement made by the CPD. The government believes that transitioning from LDC status will be a great step forward for Bangladesh," he said.
The Press Secretary also reassured the public that the government is working hard to improve the gas supply.
"A contract will soon be signed for drilling two new wells. We are in talks, and we expect all gas-related issues to be resolved quickly," he added.
When it comes to controlling rising prices in the market, Shafiqul Alam shared that the government has been actively working on it.
"With efforts such as increasing market monitoring, reducing tariffs on several products, and boosting the supply of goods, the government is making sure that local products are not extorted in the market. The government has also ensured a steady supply of dollars to open Letters of Credit (LC), which has helped stabilize the market and control the prices," he explained.
He continued, "Our primary focus is to keep the prices of essential goods affordable for the public."
Azad Majumder, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, also shared some important updates.
He mentioned that the Chief Adviser will meet with police officials from across the country on Monday.
The meeting will focus on the law and order situation, and the Chief Adviser will listen to their concerns and offer his suggestions.
Looking ahead, Azad Majumder announced that the Police Week will be celebrated on April 29.
The Chief Adviser will deliver a speech during the event.
Furthermore, Azad Majumder assured that efforts are underway to improve the oil supply.
"We expect the oil supply to increase soon, which will help lower prices. The government is also working on boosting the supply of rice," he added.
The government’s efforts to tackle these issues reflect a proactive approach to resolving economic challenges and ensuring the well-being of the public.
