The Chouka border in Chapainawabganj, Bangladesh, remains tense after a recent clash between citizens of Bangladesh and India.

While there have been no reports of injuries so far, the situation took a serious turn when the Border Security Force (BSF) launched sound grenades.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Golam Kibria, the commander of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Rahampur Battalion, the BSF‍‍`s actions have violated international law.

Lieutenant Colonel Kibria shared his thoughts after visiting the Chouka border area on Sunday.

He mentioned that the BGB Director-General has been fully informed about the developments.

He expressed hope that both the BGB and BSF would have a high-level meeting to discuss and resolve the issue.

Kibria also made it clear that the people of Bangladesh, along with the BGB, are fully prepared to defend their territory, and there will be no compromise on the border.

The clash between the two sides occurred on Saturday morning, sparked by a disagreement over cutting trees near the zero line.

The situation quickly escalated, involving hundreds of people. The conflict saw bricks and stones being thrown by both sides.

Border forces from both countries have already held a flag meeting to discuss the situation.

Earlier, tensions flared at the same border on January 5 when BSF attempted to build a fence.

The BGB successfully stopped the construction, forcing the BSF to retreat.
