Rail operations have resumed all over the country as the Sylhet-bound Parabat Express left Dhaka's Kamalapur Railway Station at 1:35pm on Wednesday.
Khairul Kabir, divisional transport officer (Dhaka Division) of Bangladesh Railways, confirmed the development.
Earlier at 5:30 am on Wednesday, railways operations were suspended all over the country as the staffers including locomasters of Bangladesh Railway stopped working in order to press home their demands of increased allowances and retirement benefits.
Railways Minister, the secretary and other senior officials met with the protesting locomasters at Kamalapur Railway Station in the morning to resolve the issue.
After the meeting, Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said that he will meet with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to discuss the demands on April 19.
He further said that their demands would be met and requested them to lift the suspension and resume train operations.
