Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, in response to a question from journalists about the reason of the fire in several markets including Bangabazar and Newmarket areas in the capital, said that suspicion is arising in everyone's mind about frequent and early morning fire incidents.
He said this while distributing Eid goods among the people of his area at Colony bazar in Tejgaon industrial area of the capital on Sunday.
The home minister said, "There is a reason behind every fire incident. That might be issues of electrical problems, short circuits or even temperament. We are not sure yet. Investigation is going on. But, we all have doubts about why are there frequent and early morning fire incidents? But before the investigation, I cannot say the reason for it.”
Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, in response to the question whether he sees the involvement of any political party in these fire incidents said, "Nothing can be said about it unless the investigation is completed. I don't want to comment until the investigation is over."
A fire broke out on the third floor of Dhaka New Super Market in New Market area of the capital on Saturday (April 15). At least 250 shops were burnt on the third floor of the market in that fire. Initially, traders claimed that there was a loss of 250 crore taka.
Earlier, on April 4, a fire broke out in several markets of Bangabazar. According to the report of the investigation committee in Dhaka South City Corporation, 2 thousand and 961 shops of Bangabazar were burnt in the fire. Apart from this, 791 shops of Mahanagar Market, 59 shops of Banga Islamia Market and 34 shops of Banga Homeo Complex were damaged. In all, the amount of loss is 303 crore taka.
