Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that law enforcement agencies, including the police, are doing their job properly in the wake of the violence in the second phase of the Union Parishad elections. Such elections are elections of domination, elections within groups. There is a little quarrel here. However, the security forces are not sitting idle.
The Home Minister was responding to a question from reporters after a meeting of the sub-committee on security formed to mark the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Secretariat on Thursday (November 11).
Violence took place in different parts of the country with the second phase of UP elections. It has been alleged that the police were not carrying out their duties as directed.
Asked what instructions you, as Home Minister, gave to the police to stop the unpleasant incidents and violence, the minister said, “Police are doing the job. Elections were held in a huge area. You have always seen this UP election, it is a group election, an election of domination, and there is always a little quarrel here.”
Stating that those involved in the election violence have been identified, the Home Minister said, "We are witnessing casualties in several areas. The police have properly identified them. Action is being taken to identify those involved in the conspiracy.
Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, "The Prime Minister has made it clear ... that our security forces have been asked to take action for a fair and neutral election. They are working for a fair and neutral election.
