War-like situation imposed on the country by external forces: Mahfuz Alam

A top government official has raised alarms over the current situation in the country, suggesting that a war-like atmosphere is being imposed from external forces.

Mahfuz Alam, an adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, made these claims in a Facebook post on Monday night, where he urged the public to unite and resist these influences.

Alam‍‍`s post stated, "A pseudo-war is being waged by forces opposed to the people‍‍`s uprising. We must remember that the country is currently in a state of war, and this war has been imposed on us from another place. Every week and day’s agenda of this war is directed and monitored from a control room. We must unite and build resistance against this war."

He also shared insights from a recent review meeting chaired by the Chief Advisor, where several key national issues were discussed.

"There was a discussion on measures to prevent abuse and violence against women and children, adopting a strict stance against banned organizations, and improving the overall law and order situation," he wrote.

The government, according to Alam, is moving towards tougher actions.

"We mentioned in the press conference that the government would take a tough position. From yesterday to today, arrests of criminals are ongoing in various places, and the government is working swiftly and justly to ensure timely trials."

In the same post, Alam revealed that the government is also focused on providing jobs for the youth.

He wrote, "The topic of providing employment for hundreds of thousands of students and youth and adopting a national program for young people was also raised in yesterday‍‍`s discussions. Visible steps will soon be taken in this regard."

He emphasized that the government‍‍`s commitment to addressing terrorism and extremism is already showing results, with "coordinated efforts" underway.

However, despite these efforts, Alam indicated that the government is facing opposition.

He pointed out, "From controlling commodity prices, arresting and trying criminals, strengthening institutions, to taking positive initiatives for the July martyrs and injured—on all these issues, the government is active and successful." Still, he warned about internal challenges, adding, "The government is being challenged by the opposition arising from the military-civilian bureaucracy, the business class, and media aligned with the forces of the people‍‍`s uprising, who are acting out of vested interests and obstinacy."

The adviser elaborated on the broader struggle the government is engaged in.

"The government is fighting a war against a powerful local and foreign alliance that was defeated by the people‍‍`s uprising. But, vested interests are working tirelessly to dismantle the unity among the people who led the uprising—and they‍‍`re succeeding," he wrote.

Alam urged caution, suggesting that it is in the country’s best interest not to pit the army, political parties, and various groups against each other.

Concluding his post, Mahfuz Alam highlighted other important goals that need attention, including state reform, trials for crimes like genocide and looting, and the revival of institutions.

"These issues are slipping away from our focus. It is because this government‍‍`s tenure has created opportunities and capabilities to build this country that prescriptions for a rapid change in government are coming from abroad. However, the election will be held on time, and visible progress in state reforms will occur before the election, based on the July charter. The murderers, rapists, and looters will face justice," he said.

This statement by a senior government advisor sheds light on the ongoing tensions in the country, framing the situation as a battle imposed by external forces but also dealing with significant internal challenges.
