A 30-year-old woman was killed and four others including a newly-wed bridegroom went missing on Friday as a trawler carrying wedding guests capsized in the river Tetulia at Auliapur Launch Ghat of Rangopaldi union of the Dashmina Upazila of Patuakhali.
The deceased was identified as Lipi Akter, aunt of the groom, Rabbi Hawlader.
Rabbi's mother Selina Begum, Lipi's two daughters -- Khadiza and Maria, and another child are missing.
Majuri Elahi, a relative of the groom, said the incident occurred when a trawler carrying 14-15 relatives in a wedding party was coming back from Charborhan when it overturned in the Tetulia River, leaving Lipi akter dead and four others missing including the groom and his mother.
Dashmina Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nafisa Naz Neera said, "I am at the spot. This is being taken seriously. Fire service and naval police are conducting rescue operations.”
