BCL leader hacked dead in Cox’s Bazar

A 26-year-old Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader in Cox’s Bazar's Sadar upazila was hacked to death by his rival group members on Sunday evening.

The deceased is Faisal Uddin, son of Lal Mohammad of South Delpara area of Khurushkul union parishsad of the upazila, according to media reports.

The incident took place around 7pm when he was returning home from a local party conference, said Cox's Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md Rafiqul Islam.

Police and witnesses say, around 10-12 people attacked Faisal with sharp weapons. He was severely injured and died while being rushed to a nearby hospital by locals an hour later.

The body is kept at Cox's Bazar 250 Bed District Sadar Hospital for autopsy. “Legal action will be taken after investigation,” said the ASP. 

Meanwhile, the victim's family alleged that the attackers swooped on him in front of police and left soon after their operation.
