A significant shipment of 26,250 metric tons of atap rice from Pakistan has reached Bangladesh.
The MV Mariam, a cargo ship carrying the rice, docked at the Port of Chattogram today.
This was confirmed through a press release from the Ministry of Food.
The rice shipment arrived under a Government-to-Government (G2G) agreement.
Upon reaching the port, samples of the rice were tested, and the unloading process has already begun.
This marks another milestone in Bangladesh’s ongoing rice imports from neighboring countries to support the local market.
This shipment is part of a broader deal that also included 37,250 metric tons of rice from both India and Pakistan.
The total rice from Pakistan in this deal amounts to 26,250 metric tons, while India contributed 11,000 metric tons.
On March 5, two other ships carrying rice also reached the Chattogram port, further highlighting the ongoing efforts to ensure rice availability in the country.
The arrival of this shipment comes as part of Bangladesh’s strategic move to ensure sufficient food supply amid increasing demand, with the government working diligently to meet the country`s needs through these international rice shipments.
