Govt halts recruitment of principals and headmasters at private institutions

The Ministry of Education has directed a suspension of recruitment for the positions of heads and assistant heads — including principals, vice principals, head teachers, assistant head teachers, superintendents, and assistant superintendents — at all private educational institutions across Bangladesh.

According to an official order issued on Sunday, signed by Syed A. Z. M. Morshed Ali, Deputy Secretary (Private Secondary-1) of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, the ministry instructed that all recruitment activities for these posts remain suspended until further notice.

The circular states, “From now on, the appointment process for heads and assistant heads (principal, vice principal, head teacher, assistant head teacher, superintendent, and assistant superintendent) at private educational institutions is to be halted.” It further adds that no new recruitment will proceed until additional instructions are provided.

The directive follows a statement made earlier the same day by Education Adviser Professor Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar (C. R. Abrar) during an event marking World Teachers’ Day.

He announced that recruitment for principals and head teachers at MPO-listed private institutions will be conducted through the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA), and that initiatives in this regard are already underway.
