State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said that the government has no plan to raise the age limit for entering government job.
Farhad Hossain came up with the remark while replying to a query at the national parliament on Tuesday.
Responding to a question by lawmaker Habibe Millat the state minister said, though there was immense session jam in the past at various educational institutions including universities. However, there is hardly any session jam in recent years.
For this reason, students achieve their secondary certificate at the age of 16, HSC at 18 and the post graduate degree at 23-24. As the age limit for general candidates is 30, they get 6 to 7 years to take preparation for government job. Besides, if any candidate applies for job at 30 years old the time required for completing the recruitment process is not counted.
The number of vacant posts has reduced typically as the age limit to retire from job has been increased to 59 years from 57 recently, Farhad said.
In this circumstances, the number of job seekers will increase tremendously if the entry limit is hiked. As a result, the recruitment process may be more competitive. This may bring opportunities to get a job for the applicants aged above 30, but at the same time it may bring frustration among the fresh job seekers aged bellow 30, the state minister added.
