Best places to visit during the rainy season in Bangladesh

The monsoon has already arrived. Some people adore rain as a blessing of mother nature as during the monsoon, nature looks greener, more pure and utterly peaceful in Bangladesh. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, utilise this majestic misty weather to discover the natural beauty of the country,  here are some of the most amazing places in Bangladesh to travel during the monsoon season.

Ratargul Swamp Forest

The Ratargul swamp forest is among the handful of freshwater swamp forests in the world. It is a protected natural area under the Department of Forestry of Bangladesh.

Cox’s Bazar

In recent years, Cox’s Bazar has become a tourist hub for all seasons. However, most of the tourists flock there in the winter season making it a packed tourist spot.

Bichanakandi

The list will not be complete if we don‍‍`t mention Bichanakandi. This low-lying stream of water coming from the Seven Sisters ofMeghalaya offers some of the most scintillating views of nature. The rocky pathway on both sides simply alleviates the overall ethereal feel of the place.

Tanguar Haor

The experience of the monsoon season can be best experienced in open water bodies. From the context of Bangladesh, haors are the perfect complement to that. Just like the haors of Ratargul, there is a large wetland area near the Dharmapasha area of Sunamganj known as Tanguar haor.

Nafa-Khum Waterfalls

Nafa-Khum is nestled deep into the mountains of Bandarban. This majestic waterfall is the largest in Bangladesh in both area and height. With the Nafa-Khum falls, the exciting part isn’t just the falls themselves, but rather the entire journey itself.

Dibir haor

Anyone growing up in the early 2000s will be able to recall the vast open water and red lilies that were shown in BTV during intervals. This natural breathtaking scene can be found in Dibir haor in Jaflong.

Jadipai Waterfall

If Nafa-Khum takes the title of the biggest waterfall in Bangladesh then Jadipai gets the title for being the widest. The waterfall is almost 50 meters wide at its base.

Kaptai Lake

In addition to housing the only water-powered electric power plant, Kaptai Lake is also the largest man-made lake in the entire south Asian region. During the monsoon season, the Karnaphuli dam is opened which heightens the water level of the Kaptai Lake. From the shore, it looks as if the horizon is touching the end of the lake.
