Health authorities have reported a fresh rise in dengue infections, confirming 745 new cases and four deaths in the past 24 hours.
A spokesperson for the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, "We recorded deaths of four dengue patients in 24 hours ending at 8 am today," adding that 745 people were newly diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease during the same period.
DGHS figures show that among the latest fatalities, one occurred in Chattogram division, two in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and one in Mymensingh division.
According to the DGHS statement, of the 745 newly hospitalized patients, 125 were admitted in Barishal division, 89 in Chattogram division, 154 in Dhaka division (outside the capital), 127 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 116 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 32 in Khulna division, 53 in Mymensingh division, 48 in Rajshahi division, and 1 in Sylhet division.
Since the beginning of this year’s outbreak, Bangladesh has recorded 353 dengue-related deaths, while the total number of infections has reached 88,457.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives and infected 1,01,214 people across the country.
