Three More Die of Dengue; 1,007 Hospitalised

Three more people have died of dengue fever in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths from the mosquito-borne disease this year to 339. During the same period, 1,007 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country. The information was released in the Directorate General of Health Services’ (DGHS) daily dengue report on Monday (17 November).

According to the DGHS, two of the deaths in the past 24 hours occurred in Dhaka South City Corporation, while one person died in the Mymensingh division. Dhaka division recorded the highest number of new hospital admissions, with 254 patients admitted in the last day.

The division-wise hospital admissions in the past 24 hours are as follows:
– Dhaka North City Corporation: 191
– Barishal division: 150
– Dhaka South City Corporation: 142
– Chattogram division: 135
– Mymensingh division: 61
– Rajshahi division: 41
– Khulna division: 25
– Rangpur division: 5
– Sylhet division: 3

Since 1 January, a total of 339 people have died of dengue. Among them, the highest number of deaths—160—occurred in Dhaka South City Corporation. Additionally, 58 deaths were reported in Dhaka North City Corporation, followed by 44 in Barishal division, 25 in Chattogram, 17 in Rajshahi, 16 in Mymensingh, 11 in Khulna, 7 in Dhaka division (outside the two city corporations), and 1 in Sylhet.
