Death toll rises to 15 in Indian-administered Kashmir

According to the army, the shelling targeted civilian areas in Poonch and Tangdhar regions of Indian-administered Kashmir.

The Indian Army has confirmed that 15 civilians have lost their lives and 43 others have been injured due to Pakistani shelling since Tuesday night.

The announcement was made during a live broadcast on Wednesday, as reported by the BBC, citing Indian military sources.

According to the army, the shelling targeted civilian areas in Poonch and Tangdhar regions of Indian-administered Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Pakistan earlier reported that 26 of its citizens were killed in Indian airstrikes and cross-border firing. Both countries have accused each other of escalating hostilities along the Line of Control.

Tensions remain high across the region, with both sides reinforcing border positions and placing security forces on high alert.

International observers and peace advocates have called for immediate de-escalation and a return to dialogue to prevent further civilian casualties.

Amid the rising fears, residents in border villages are seeking shelter and medical services are struggling to cope with the influx of wounded.
