Hamas enlists 10,000 to 15,000 new fighters

Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, has been rapidly increasing its ranks since the war with Israel began, adding between 10,000 and 15,000 new fighters.

This revelation came from two U.S. Congress members who are informed about the latest intelligence reports from the U.S. government, shared with Reuters.

According to these sources, the newly enlisted members of Hamas, backed by Iran, continue to pose a significant and ongoing threat to Israel. U.S. officials also indicated that intelligence suggests Hamas has suffered similar casualties, with the same number of fighters killed in the ongoing battle in Gaza.

This data, previously unpublished, provides new insight into the conflict.

While Hamas has been successful in recruiting new soldiers, many of them are young and lack formal training.

The new recruits are mostly being used for basic security tasks, according to the U.S. officials familiar with the situation.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken commented on the situation earlier this month, warning that for every fighter Hamas has lost in the past 15 months, the group has replaced them with an equal number.

He stressed that this cycle could lead to an indefinite state of conflict.
