Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has stated that two of the three unresolved issues from the 1971 conflict, including an apology for the genocide, have been addressed twice.
Dar made the comments on Sunday afternoon after meeting with Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka.
When asked about discussions on unresolved issues during the foreign minister-level talks, Dar said that the matter was first settled in 1974, with the resulting documents holding historical significance for both countries.
He added that later, during General Pervez Musharraf’s visit to Bangladesh, the issue was publicly and openly addressed, marking a second resolution—once in 1974 and again in the early 2000s.
