The Sylhet district administration has issued a three-day ultimatum to recover looted stones from the government-gazetted tourist site Sadapathor in Companyganj.
Officials are broadcasting announcements in Companyganj and surrounding areas, instructing those involved to return the stones by their own initiative and at their own expense.
The deadline has been set for 5:00 pm on Tuesday, August 26, by which time the stolen stones must be brought back to the Sadapathor tourist site.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Padmashan Singh confirmed the development, saying:
“By Tuesday 5:00 pm, the stones must be returned to the Volaganj No. 10 Ghat dumping station at the perpetrators’ own initiative. Failure to comply will result in legal action.”
He further warned that if raids after the deadline uncover stones in any locality, action will also be taken against the public representatives of that area.
Alongside this process, law enforcement will continue efforts to bring the masterminds of the stone looting under the purview of the law.
