An Iranian schoolgirl has reportedly been killed by the security services after she was beaten in her classroom for refusing to sing their pro-regime song when her school was raided last week fueling further protests across the country this weekend.
Panahi died on October 13 after security forces raided the Shahed girls high school and ordered a group of girls to sing a pro-regime anthem in praise of the nation`s supreme leader, Ayatollah Alu Khumeini, according to the report citing the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teacher`s Trade Association.
When the girls refused their demands, the security officers began hitting them; as a result, several of the girls were sent to the hospital and other girls were jailed. Panahi reportedly passed away on Friday due to severe injuries.
The incident has already led to anti-government protests, although Iranian officials have refused accusations.
The development comes amid ongoing anti-hijab protests in Iran which were sparked by Amini’s death.
