Two bodies were recovered from a private car parked at the basement of Dr. Sirajul Islam Medical College and Hospital in Dhaka’s Mouchak area on Monday afternoon.
Police have identified the deceased as Zakir and Mizan, both around 40 years old, residents of Chatkhil Upazila in Noakhali district.
According to police, the two had come to Dhaka to pick up a patient undergoing treatment at the hospital. The car was parked on the third basement level since early Sunday morning, based on hospital records.
Mizanur Rahman, the hospital’s security in-charge, told reporters that he discovered the bodies around noon after noticing the parking spot was occupied.
Despite knocking multiple times, there was no response. Upon opening the door, he found both men deceased—one seated in the driver’s seat with the seat reclined, and the other in the back seat.
Ramna Zone Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam said Zakir was the driver and Mizan was his relative.
Police have identified the car owner as Saurav, also from Chatkhil. A forensic team from the Criminal Investigation Department inspected the scene and collected evidence.
Both bodies have been sent to Dhaka Medical College for autopsy. Authorities have yet to determine whether the deaths were due to homicide or other causes, and further details will be provided after the investigation.
