Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, issued a stark warning about the potential consequences if the United States or Israel were to attack Iran`s nuclear facilities.
According to Sheikh Mohammed, such an attack would lead to severe environmental damage and cause a major water shortage in the countries surrounding the Persian Gulf.
Speaking to American political commentator Tucker Carlson, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that the attack on Iran’s nuclear sites would result in contamination of the water to such an extent that it would cause an "environmental disaster."
He stressed that within just three days of an attack, Qatar would face a serious water crisis.
The impact would not be limited to Qatar alone, as countries like Kuwait and the UAE, along with all nations bordering the Persian Gulf, would be affected.
In his remarks, Sheikh Mohammed explained that the entire region could experience widespread pollution in the waters of the Gulf, significantly disrupting water supply for all the neighboring countries.
He also pointed out that the effects would be felt much faster in Qatar, given the country’s proximity to the Gulf.
In the same interview, the Qatari Prime Minister discussed the recent call from a U.S. congressman who urged Qatar to sever its relationship with Iran.
However, Sheikh Mohammed rejected the suggestion.
He responded by showing the congressman a map to illustrate just how close Qatar and Iran are geographically, explaining that such a severance of ties between the two nations would not be practical.
In addition to this, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, recently joined the conversation, warning that any military aggression against Iran’s nuclear facilities by the United States or Israel would have devastating consequences.
Araghchi expressed concerns about the ripple effect that such actions could have on the region, particularly when it comes to the safety and security of surrounding countries.
With tensions in the region continuing to rise, Sheikh Mohammed’s comments highlight the complex and far-reaching consequences of a potential conflict with Iran, stressing the urgency of peaceful diplomatic solutions to avoid environmental and humanitarian disasters in the Gulf.
