Due to immense pressure from Doha, the Taliban have cancelled their interim government inauguration ceremony.
Inamullah Samangani, a member of the Taliban's cultural commission, stated the cancellation of the ceremony on Friday, reported Russian news agency TASS citing the Taliban official.
The Taliban which gained control of Afghanistan on August 15 from US and its allies, initially scheduled the lavish inaugural ceremony on 9/11 and made the announcement on September 7, according to several foreign media reports.
Countries such as Russia, China, Pakistan, and Iran were invited to join the event.
"The inauguration ceremony of the new Afghan government was canceled a few days ago. In order not to confuse people further, the leadership of the Islamic Emirate (the name the Taliban calls itself) announced the part of the Cabinet, and it has already started to work," the Taliban’s member wrote on his Twitter page.
The Taliban member also denied that the ceremony was scheduled on 9/11, and called it nothing but a rumour. He said there was no official announcement from the Taliban regarding the ceremony to be held on the September 11.
No further date was specified for the postponed ceremony from the Taliban.
