U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly severed direct communication with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to a report by Israeli media on Thursday.
Yanir Cozin, a correspondent for Israel’s Army Radio, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Trump made the decision after being told by close associates that Netanyahu was attempting to manipulate him.
The information was relayed to Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer.
An Israeli official said Dermer’s recent conversations with senior Republican leaders were perceived as arrogant and counterproductive.
According to the official, Trump’s inner circle warned him that Netanyahu was using him for political gain.
“Trump despises being seen as someone who’s been fooled or taken advantage of. That’s the main reason he decided to break ties with Netanyahu,” the official explained.
Cozin further noted that tensions between Washington and Tel Aviv have grown due to Israel’s failure to provide a clear strategic plan or timeline regarding Iran, Yemen’s Houthis, and the situation in Gaza.
