U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order aimed at sending back foreign students and expatriates who participated in pro-Palestinian protests.

The order, signed on January 29th, addresses the growing tensions surrounding support for Palestine in U.S. college campuses. The news was reported by Reuters.

In a statement directed towards foreign students, Trump said,

"To those of you who joined jihadist movements, we are keeping an eye on you. We will find you and send you back to your home countries. Any foreign student who shows sympathy for Hamas at educational institutions will have their visa revoked in the shortest time possible."

The statement further declared that,

"We will revoke the visas of all foreign students who show support for Hamas on campuses. These campus movements have been overwhelmed by extremists."

However, it is important to note that a report released in May of last year showed that 97% of pro-Palestinian protests on U.S. campuses were peaceful, contrary to the president‍‍`s claims.

Last year, in the wake of Israeli military actions in Gaza, large protests were held around the world, including in the U.S. Students, along with the general public, voiced their opposition to the violence in Gaza.

American universities and colleges saw some of the largest demonstrations, where students took a stand against Israeli actions.
