Bangladesh and Malaysia on Tuesday signed five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and three “Notes of Exchange” following a bilateral meeting between Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya.
According to a post on the Chief Adviser’s verified Facebook page shortly before 9:30 am Bangladesh time (11:30 am in Malaysia), the agreements cover defense cooperation, energy, strategic and international education, and trade and commerce. The Notes of Exchange relate to higher education, diplomatic training, and the halal ecosystem.
Professor Yunus and Prime Minister Anwar were present at the signing ceremony. Earlier in the morning, before the meeting began, Yunus signed the visitors’ book at the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya. Upon his arrival there, he was welcomed by Anwar, who introduced him to Malaysian diplomats.
Professor Yunus arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Monday for a three-day state visit. He was received at the airport by Malaysia’s Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and was accorded a red-carpet reception and guard of honor.
