Europe’s largest nuclear power facility, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant run by Russia, was hit by a Ukrainian shell on Thursday.
This happened the day after the Russian president Vladimir Putin threatened the west to launch a nuclear attack amid the tension escalating between Ukraine and Russia.
Beside a boundary an explosive device has fallen, where diesel fuel tanks are kept.
"Such attacks are unacceptable," they said.
It was not immediately clear when the attack had taken place. Reuters was unable to immediately verify battlefield reports from either side.
Reuters said they couldn’t immediately verify the exact time of the attack from the opposite side of the battleground..
International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi has frequently warned of the danger of attacks on the facility.
Two years have passed since Russia and Ukraine are fighting and blaming each other for past shelling that has downed power lines and endangered generators.
