A total of 195,761 people have received legal advice services through the toll-free number of the national helpline call center.
The government legal assistance is being provided under the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO).
A report published on the organization`s website highlighted detailed information on legal assistance provided through the NLASO from 2009 to December 2025.
Initially, the service was launched at the district level for underprivileged people. Later, it was expanded to include Legal Aid offices at the Supreme Court, a toll-free "16430" call center, labour legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram, and services in prisons across the country.
However, the toll-free number has been changed recently to make the service more accessible. The new number is "16699".
In 2013, the activities of labour legal aid cells were launched under NLASO. From 2016, the national helpline call center`s toll-free number was introduced. Since then, until December 2025, 195,761 people have received legal advice services.
The report also said that before the establishment of the national helpline call center, 17,328 people were provided legal advice services through the hotline.
The service is being provided at the government`s expense under the Legal Aid Services Act to assist financially insolvent and incapable justice seekers.
The activities of the NLASO are conducted under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
