An election official was killed in a motorcycle accident in the city`s Airport Road area last night (December 20).
Md Al-Mamun (48) was employed at the Uttara Election Office in Dhaka. In the Saturia upazila of Manikganj, he was the son of the late Shamsul Haque of Akashi village.
According to witnesses, Mamun was seriously hurt after the truck crashed into the bike at around 9:30 p.m. on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway near the airport.
Initially, he was taken to the Kurmitola General Hospital for treatment.
Later, Mamun was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he passed away around 11:15 pm, said his son Riad Abir.
As per Md Bachchu Miah, the in-charge of DMCH police outpost, the dead body is kept at the morgue for autopsy.
