The court handed down a death sentence to the father for raping a 14-year-old girl, along with a Tk 1 lakh fine.
Following the announcement of the verdict by Judge Shahriar Kabir of Dhaka Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal-4 on Thursday (April 25), the victim`s father was promptly incarcerated.
It is said in the statement that the victim girl lived with her father in Keraniganj area of the capital. The girl`s mother lived abroad. On February 22, 2022, the girl was raped by her biological father.
After the incident, the girl lodged a rape case against against her father on February 24, 2022, at the Dakshin Keraniganj police station in the capital. Subsequently, the police apprehended the girl`s father, who later confessed to the crime under section 164 during court proceedings.
After investigating the case, the police submitted a charge sheet to the court against the girl`s father on August 30 of that year. In this case, six witnesses from the state were presented in the court.
