Zubaida Rahman`s appeal verdict is scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday, May 28, by the High Court.
She was previously sentenced to three years in prison in a case related to concealing wealth information and acquiring assets beyond known income sources.
The hearing concluded before a single High Court bench led by Justice Md Khizir Ahmed Choudhury.
Zubaida’s legal team included senior lawyers SM Shahjahan, Barrister Kaiser Kamal, and Advocate Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan, among others.
Earlier, the High Court accepted her appeal after condoning a delay of 587 days. She was also granted bail in connection with the sentence.
The original case was filed in 2007 against Zubaida Rahman, her husband Tarique Rahman, and her mother, alleging undisclosed wealth and corruption.
In 2023, a Dhaka court sentenced Tarique Rahman to nine years and Zubaida Rahman to three years in prison, along with financial penalties.
In late 2024, the government suspended Zubaida’s sentence for one year to allow her to file an appeal. She returned to the country on May 6, 2025.
