BNP leaders and activists clashed with the cops on Saturday when they did not respond to the call of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
BNP leaders and workers clashed and chased each other in Uttara, Dholaikhal, Matuail, Gabtali in the capital after the police stopped them from holding the sit-in program.
Meanwhile, BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Dhaka city North unit BNP convener Amanullah Aman have been arrested by the police.
At around 11am on Saturday, the general secretary of Dhaka district unit of BNP, Nipun Roy, hundreds of party leaders participated in the sit-in program. They stood on the road and chanted anti-government slogans, leading to a clash with the police. Meanwhile, police arrested BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy.
On the other hand, BNP leaders and activists clashed with the police when they went to hold a sit-in program at Gabtali in the capital. The police arrested several people including Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP convener Amanullah Aman.
Meanwhile, when the activists gathered to make the sit-in program in Uttara, the police asked them to move from the road. However, when they started protesting on the road, the police lobbed tear gas shells to disperse them. BNP leaders and activists also threw stones and stones at the police. Besides, BNP claimed at least half a hundred BNP workers have been arrested from different spots of BNP`s location program in Nayabazar, Gabtali, Matuail, Uttara area of the capital.
