The Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has launched a new shuttle bus service at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) to improve service delivery.
Starting today, the service will operate with two BRTC buses, facilitating the transport of baggage for arriving and departing passengers.
During the inauguration, BRTC Chairman Tajul Islam emphasized the corporation`s shift towards enhancing customer service.
He noted challenges faced by passengers, particularly those with heavy luggage, and highlighted the service`s capacity to handle 40-50 kg of baggage. The buses will remain stationed at the airport`s terminal no. 2, aiming to streamline passenger movement and ensure safety.
Operated by the airport authorities, the Airport Shuttle Bus Service will run from Terminal 2 to the Airport Railway Station, covering key airport areas including the roundabout, Uttara Jashimuddin Road, and Terminal 3.
Each bus, designed by BRTC, features 25 seats, air-conditioning, dedicated luggage storage, security systems, free Wi-Fi, and accommodations for elderly and special-needs passengers. Manufacturing of these buses occurred at BRTC`s integrated central repair factory in Gazipur, marking a significant step towards local production.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was chief guest at the programme, with Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Farooq Khan as a special guest.
In response to inquiries about corruption, Minister Quader reaffirmed the government`s unwavering stance against corruption, underscoring the Anti-Corruption Commission`s authority and the government`s commitment to combat corruption effectively.
