At least two journalists were assaulted by an Ansar member at Sheorapara Metrorail station.
The incident took place on the platform on the way to Agargaon route of the capital from Sheorapara station around 2pm on Tuesday.
Victims of the incident are Mamun Sohag, multimedia reporter of Bangla daily Samakal and Aktaruzzaman, multimedia reporter of Bangla daily Amader Shomoy.
Eyewitnesses claimed, the Ansar member got angered all on a sudden while the journalists told him that they were assigned to collect news about the latest situation of the Metrorail. The duo were later pushed into the elevator after taking away their audio capturing devices. That alleged Ansar member told them them that they were going to the senior officer`s room of Metrorail.
The officer in charge of the station stopped the Ansar member and told the journalist, "There have been complaints against this Ansar before. I will take action."
The name of the accused Ansar member is Aslam Sardar.
In this regard, the station controller of Sheorapara Metrorail Station Md Mohsin said, "The Ansar member made a mistake by taking away the journalists` boom (audio capturing device)."
He assured the journalists that he would take action on this matter soon.
