The cause of the explosion that occurred at a building in Dhaka's Science Lab neighborhood which claimed at least three lives on Sunday morning is yet to be known.
According to Additional Police Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police K Mahid Uddin, the cause of the explosion may only be known after an inquiry.
"At first, it was thought that there could have been a number of causes for the explosion. Perhaps a gas cylinder explosion, accumulated gas, or a short circuit caused the explosion. It can not be said for sure, though; it will require time and a thorough investigation," he stated while speaking to the journalists after visiting the explosion site on Sunday afternoon.
The condition of the building is very much dangerous. The police officials visited the site taking huge risks, he said.
