The five consecutive days of Eid-ul-Fitr holiday will end on Sunday, the next day the capital's government offices, banks and financial institutions will reopen.
Many of those who left Dhaka to spend Eid with their relatives in other cities or villages of the country during this holiday, have prepared to return to Dhaka by Sunday night to start work on Monday.
The Eid holiday began on April 19, following the Shab Qadr holiday. Because the only working day between Shabe Qadr and the Eid vacation was April 20. The government declared a holiday on that one day by executive order. So government employees get five consecutive days off around Eid.
Unlike other times , there were no traffic jams on this Eid journey. The last-minute decision to open the Padma Bridge for bikers has given extra joy to homebound people.
However, on the day of Eid on Saturday and the following day on Sunday, the crowd of people visiting different parts of Dhaka was seen to be more than other Eids.
Post and Telecommunication Minister, Mustafa Jabbar said that more than 5.3 lakh mobile sims left Dhaka and went to different parts of the country in three days from Tuesday, the day before Eid holiday.
Last year before Eid-ul-Azha, about 6.6 million SIMs of four mobile companies left the capital in two days, the minister said.
