Leaders and activists of different units of the Chhatra League have been gathering at Suhrawardy Udyan since morning.
The crowd carrying banners and festoons, arriving at the venue from various directions.
The 30th national council of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of the ruling Awami League, is being held today, Tuesday at the capital's Suhrawardy Udyan.
Prime minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will be present as chief guest at the council.
President Al-Nahean Khan Joy and General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee the president and acting general secretary will conduct the sessions of the council.
‘A total of 253 candidates submitted their curriculum vitae for the two top posts. Of them, 96 candidates submitted their CVs for the president post and the last 158 for the general secretary post,’ said Shams-E-Noman, the assistant election commissioner of the BCL council.
The programme of the national council began at 10:00am.
