Unidentified miscreants vandalized idols at two Hindu temples in Madaripur Sadar Upazila late Thursday night, according to police.
The incident occurred at the Shree Shree Ganesh Pagol Temple and Radha-Krishna Temple, located side by side near the Dighi bank in Parbot Bagan of Mustafapur Union.
Madaripur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Adil Hossain confirmed the attack and said the idols were found damaged on Friday morning. Locals first discovered the vandalism and promptly informed the police, who later visited the scene.
According to local residents, the attackers smashed one idol at the Ganesh Pagol Temple and both Radha and Krishna idols at the neighboring temple under the cover of darkness.
Pranotosh Mondol, President of the Madaripur District Puja Celebration Council, condemned the incident, saying, “This is extremely alarming. We urge the authorities to conduct a proper investigation and bring those responsible to justice, as such acts can cause insecurity among the Hindu community.”
OC Adil Hossain added, “We found the broken idols discarded at the site. We are investigating how this occurred and who may be behind it. Appropriate legal action will be taken against the perpetrators.”
