The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced, Umrah pilgrims from five countries including Bangladesh must provide their biometric data, including “fingerprints” in order to get an electronic Umrah visa.
The other four countries are the UK, Tunisia, Kuwait and Malaysia.
To register their fingerprints, one has to download the “Saudi Visa Bio” app on their smartphone. Later, they will have to press on the passport scan to verify their identity, reports The Gulf News.
The individual then has to take a full-face picture with their phone's front camera and match it with the picture on their passport.
According to the HAAB president, around three to four lakh Bangladeshis perform Umrah every year.
