Crewless vessel washes ashore at St Martin’s Island

A crewless cargo vessel has washed ashore at St Martin's Island on Monday because of the effects of cyclone Sitrang and the tidal current.

The vessel got stuck near the coral-stones of Chhera Dwip, a part of St Martin's Island.

The top portion of the ship has a few open areas where numerous containers and other items were found, said locals.

MR 3322 and SC4562B is written on the 90 meters ship.

Coast Guard's Teknaf Station Commander Lt Ashik Ahmed said they don’t have any clue as to from where it came.

A search will be conducted on the cargo vessel after the cyclone, he said.
